... and everyone needs a friend who can tell ya you're just pissing in the wind
When I get fan E-mail from the female gender, sometimes they will add "Yes, there are females that read your comic" as if I am suddenly shocked that there would actually be females that would find sex humour at all interesting, despite many of my female friends having actually worked on the comic, doing guest panels and the like.

Looking through the PayPal donation lists, a number of donators have been women. Also looking through the friends list of this weblog, a substantial percentage of readers are also women.

The question is this: If you are a woman, and I'll allow you to check to make sure, why do you read this comic? What is its appeal to you? (type in SCREEN if you don't want your response to be public for whatever reason).

If you're a guy, why do you think women read this comic?

I'm interested in your responses.

a friend of mine turned me on to the comics about 2.5 years ago (in fact this was the first one I saw). I think my reaction was something along the lines of that it was something twisted enough for this friend to send me (he used to send me midget porn files) and that it was also really funny and intrigued me. So I read the backlog and was hooked. well, until the original site went down and the friend in question found out the new url and all that.

If reading and enjoying this comic makes me fucked up, then I am gladly a fucked up woman.

We women these days are just as sick-minded as men, and that's just about all there is to it. *shrug*

I agree. Some just hide it more than others. ;) But seriously, it seems like more girls are coming out and saying they enjoy hentai (or at least ecchi comics like this one) more and more, so it's not so much of a shocker.

I however am proud to be a pervert, thus I dig the series a lot. I amuses me, yes it does. X3;;

Uh, 'cause it's funny and the art doesn't suck. There are other reasons?

I know many women feel a bit defensive about their sexuality, like they need to fight a stereotype or something. I know I've felt that way myself sometimes, mostly because I've had way too many people be incredulous that a woman could appreciate sexual content that wasn't wombyn seashell "erotica." But I suspect some of it might just be, "ooh, I'm special."

the fact that your strip can be so warped and breaks every taboo imaginable is what draws me in each time.

keep up the great work!

OH! and i checked... yep... i'm female! LOL

I like it because it's so tounge-in-cheek about sex. You know there are the weird people out there who have strange fetishes or sexual problems, but this comic takes it to the extreme.

The situations you put your characters through are just believable enough (well, except your Suicide series) that it makes me feel a bit better that my life doesn't suck as much as theirs.

Thank you for all the work you've done for the last few years.

I'm technically female, but I don't self-identify as...well, anything...so I'm not sure whether my response will really matter. That said, I read your comic because I enjoy puerile giggling at sex. Sex is way too serious for the most part, and I love the fact that someone with a knack for irony and a skill for drawing can crack original dirty jokes.

I love the humor and the drawing is beautiful. I forget now how I found it but I have been watching it over the last year and have read the archives. Occasionally it brings a smile to realize I relate to one of the situations. Perhaps not the exact events but the feelings of the characters. I tend to not post to the lj or mail you cause I dont want to clog your inbox.

Thanks for all the entertainment. :)

I read this comic for none other than, what else, entertainment reasons. And let me tell you, it is quite entertaining. Sex-related humor is some of the funniest stuff in the world if you don't really let it hurt you sensibilities. Its all for fun, so I say, take it in stride and enjoy it, or just leave.

Despite my burly, manly icon I am indeed a female. Why do I read the comic? Because it's as funny as fuck. Do I need another reason? Then here you go. Sex is only 20% romance. The rest is comedy. For reference, check out two virgins going at it on their wedding night when the world expects them perform for each other like a couple of trained circus ponies.

I like a comic that makes fun of human sexuality. Sex is great, but there's a hell of a lot that's funny about it, too. No matter how disturbing or over the top Sexy Losers gets, people can't complain because somewhere there is a real life parallel to every comic. Someone somewhere is fucking a dead body right now. Some mother somewhere is wet for her stallion son. And then there are the people who are just wildly turned on by eating shit. We all know that humans are screwed up creatures, so we may as well get a laugh out of it.

I'm not sure what me being a woman has to do with any of this, so I'm sorry for my disappointing answer. ;)

Porn and comedy are two of my favorite things. How can I resist them when they're combined? My sex has nothing to do with how much I like funny naked people and dirty jokes.

Do I have to use appalling words like "sex-positive"?

No, I think I just read this comic because I appreciate a sick joke, especially one applied with deft comic timing. This state of being is not a function of maleness.

I like it because well...I like the drawing, and I like the punchlines and the story lines. I like how it evolves and changes, and how it has the most random strips that surprise you into a laugh.

Plus, it's not just guys who like dirty jokes and pr0n y'know. I like 'em too ^_^

I read for the most basic reason: it's funny and I like to laugh. Work is very stressful, as is the drive home, and any humor helps relive that.

I read it because it's hilarious, basically. My roommate (also a woman) got me into it, and while I was semi-scarred at first (ack, penises!!) I got used to it. I enjoy the artwork and the humor. Keep up the good work, Hard.

I'm female. It's hilarious. I like anime, and I like parody, and I have a taste in humour that some of my friends find "just plain wrong".

Oh, right. Why.

The art is good. You don't go for half-assed drawing on the strength of your punch lines.

The humor is good. You don't go for half-assed humor on the strength of your drawing.

I like sex, and I'm pleased to feel like I'm not the only one, and that whatever mess I can wind up in, at least that fiction is usually going to be stranger than truth.

I'd have to say my number one reason is that it's just plain funny. I love the art, the characters are great, and I think it's a good webcomic for either sex. I'm sure you're probably looking for something a little more deep, but it's a webcomic. I read it because it's entertaining. Thanks for creating it. :)

I'm a woman (I checked just to be sure), and I read your comic for a few reasons, I guess:

1) it's always very entertaining
2) the artwork is always excellent
3) I like sex and humour together... and you do that well

Well it's funny, it's wonderfully drawn, it's entertaining, and it's this wickedly satirical look at something that isn't really made fun of a lot - I mean, I guess I read it for the same reasons that everyone *else* reads it - I wouldn't think that gender'd have anything to do with why someone would or wouldn't read your strip, actually...
